This team facilitates access to research resources and services, delivers new and enhanced services in high demand, and helps investigators navigate and full regulatory and administrative requirements.

Overview

This program offers resources and services to faculty engaged in clinical and translational research at the Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Houston.

Services include: 

  • Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design: Support for study design, data collection and management, statistical analysis, interpretation of results, and reporting. 

  • Regulatory Knowledge Support: Guidance on regulatory-enabling documents, Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, and Investigational New Drug (IND) application design.

  • Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD): Assistance with study design, data analysis, PK modeling, simulation, and PK/PD correlation to optimize drug development and research findings. 

  • Research Ethics Consultation: Expert support on participant selection and recruitment, research with special populations, informed consent processes, and ethical considerations in research studies.

  • Faculty Co-Lead

    • Dr. Navaneethan is Garabed Eknoyan M.D. Endowed Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief in the Section of Nephrology at Baylor College of Medicine. He has extensive expertise in the design and conduct of clinical trials focusing on various chronic diseases such as diabetic kidney disease, obesity and hypertension.  He has led the clinical trial support service at Baylor College of Medicine, which is a core component of the Resources and Services offerings.

  • Faculty Co-Lead

    Dr. Chow is Paula & John J Lovoi Sr. Endowed Professor in Drug Discovery and Development, a Professor of Pharmaceutics, and Director of the Institute for Drug Education and Research in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Houston. She is an expert in pharmaceutical formulation development and investigational new drug-enabling preclinical and clinical Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) studies to enhance and optimize therapies for cancer, infection, acute spinal cord injury, bariatric surgery, and other indications.
