Dr. Fasiha Kanwal Appointed to NCATS Steering Committee
The Consortium for Translational and Precision Health (CTPH) is proud to announce that Dr. Fasiha Kanwal has been appointed to the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Steering Committee. The committee provides leadership across the Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program, promoting the exchange of policies, practices and resources while helping identify national opportunities and challenges that shape the future of clinical and translational research.
Dr. Kanwal described the appointment as both an honor and a responsibility.
“Professionally, it gives me the opportunity to contribute to the CTSA community to help identify and address shared translational roadblocks at a national level,” she said. “Personally, it is a wonderful opportunity to learn from leaders in translational science. I am also thrilled to be able to bring these learnings back to CTPH.”
In her new role, Dr. Kanwal will serve as a bridge between the CTSA Consortium and CTPH, ensuring strong bidirectional communication between national priorities and hub-level experience.
She will contribute to shaping focus areas for CTSA working groups, support planning for the annual meeting and lead her assigned pod to maintain collaboration and communication between pod members, the CTSA Steering Committee and NCATS leadership.
This appointment aligns closely with her work as a multiple principal investigator at CTPH, deepening the center’s connection to national CTSA strategy and local implementation.
“I look forward to bringing insights from our CTSA hub—particularly around infrastructure, workforce development and crossing the last mile to impact—to the national consortium,” she said. “In turn, it strengthens my ability to bring emerging NCATS priorities back to CTPH in a way that accelerates our impact.”
Dr. Kanwal emphasized that her appointment will benefit the broader CTPH community by strengthening its connection to national CTSA priorities and decision-making.
