CTPH Accepting Applications for October First R Studio

The Consortium for Translational & Precision Health is accepting applications for its next First R Studio, a grant development program designed to help early-career investigators strengthen applications for National Institutes of Health R01 funding.

The upcoming studio will take place Oct. 20, 2026.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. CT on Sept. 8.

First R Studios are structured, 90-minute sessions that provide investigators with expert feedback before submitting or resubmitting their first R01 grant proposal.

During each studio, selected investigators present their proposals to a multidisciplinary panel of reviewers assembled by the studio committee. Participants receive targeted feedback and engage in discussion to address scientific, methodological and strategic challenges that may impact the competitiveness of their applications.

Written feedback is also provided following the session.

Researchers interested in participating must submit a specific aims page, an NIH biosketch and a full proposal of up to 12 pages. The studio committee will select two finalists from the applicant pool to present during the October session.

The program aims to help investigators improve the quality of their grant submissions and increase their likelihood of securing funding.
