CTPH is proud to recognize Jared Sninsky, MD, MSCR, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine and his team, who were recently featured on the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) website for their work in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

IBD causes inflammation in the digestive tract which makes it harder for the body to break down and absorb food.

Using 20 years of real-world data from more than 5,000 veterans with IBD, Sninsky and his team found that patients who received vitamin D supplements experienced fewer emergency department visits, hospitalizations and steroid prescriptions. The findings highlight the potential of a low-cost, accessible intervention to improve outcomes for patients with IBD while demonstrating the value of real-world data in translational research.
